Acorn quality is not what it used to be Nov 02, 2008
By Penumbra If you're a long time fan of Acorn slippers, you may be disappointed in the latest model.
There seems to be a problem in the design or manufacture with the sizing. It's a struggle to get them on with the narrow opening of the bootie but, once on, they are too big and my foot slides around. I usually wear a size 8 shoe and ordered the corresponding large slipper. The company actually recommends ordering half a size larger than your normal shoe size. Others have complained that they ordered according to Acorn's sizing chart and the slippers are too snug. Perhaps a quality control issue?
The soles are a thick rubberized plastic. There is no arch support, but the insoles have a layer of memory foam, which gives the illusion of support the first few times they are worn. The uppers are polyester.
Unlike previous Acorn slippers I've owned, these don't seem to be particularly well made. However, they do look adorable in the advertising pictures and sitting on the floor of the closet.
These slippers are overpriced for the quality. Next time I'll just order two pair of Dearfoams Women's Microfiber Velour Bootie or Dearfoams Women's Sueded Microfiber Bootie which are a bit less tailored looking but are sized better and cost about half as much.
Two and a half stars for the "new" Acorn slipper.

Nice & warm, plus supportive! Dec 06, 2007
By Jackie Tortorella This slipper fits like the Acorn Chinchilla Bootie, which feels true to size to me. This shoe is softer and warmer, and the material doesn't pick up lint like the Chinchilla, making it better. It is hard to find a warm slipper with arch support, but this has it. It is a great value! I wish it came in more colors.

Comfy Slipper Feb 09, 2008
By J. Moulton Be careful with Acorn slippers, that are now made in China, they do not run true to size. I purchased the XL, and have to use a shoe horn to get them on. Once on, the slippers are warm & comfy. I purchased a pair of Acorn women's slipper socks, XL. they are so large that the toe sticks out, and causes me to frequently trip. They are warm, and comfortable, but don't stay centered on the foot. I keep on walking over on the outer edge of the slipper. Maybe I should try the next smaller size. I am very disappointed that acorn shoes, which used to be manufactured in Maine, chose to put a lot of needy Mainers out of work to out source to China.

so comfy! Jan 14, 2010

I had a hard time finding a slipper that was comfortable and would keep my feet warm without them getting overwarm and sweating. These are very cozy and keep my feet just the right temperature. I love the hard soles too in case I forget and run outside with my slippers on. I love the color too.
