Great for narrow heels and wide toe box Jan 09, 2009
By Kelli Hughes I run at least 15 miles a week and up to 30 or so, and I've finally settled on Asics. I have to have a wide toe box, so many of the other brands just don't work for me. The Nike Air Pegasus were fine, but they weren't quite as snug on my foot as the Asics. I have narrow heels/ankles, so finding a shoe that doesn't slip on the heel but isn't too tight across the top or too narrow in the toe box is hard. These fit the bill. I do lave my shoes differently to relief pressure on the top of my foot, though. I also use Easy Laces, which helps keep them snug. The cushioning is just right for me. Running shoes are personal, so you have to try a bunch to find the perfect pair. I'm still not crazy about the asymmetrical lacing they have gone to, but I got used to it. These worked better for me than the 9s because they did change something in the heel. It used to pinch (which is why I got the Nikes), but in these it's fine. I get 300-350 miles out of a pair of these shoes, which is 6 months max. That's pretty normal wear for me.

Nicely cushioned, overall a good product Jul 20, 2009
By CheddarisBetter I've been an Asics fan for years now. I know, it's not good to have brand loyalty such that one excludes the possibility of other brands. However, it seems like Asics always fits well, especially for their Wide sizes that I need.
The only issue I have with the shoe is that it seems like the arch of the shoe protrudes a little bit more inward than I would like. It's not significantly disruptive though...it does not really poke your foot or anything. It is noticeable though. It is less so if you happen to use thicker cushioned socks as I do.
The Nimbus is a good shoe to use for runners that just need cushion or perhaps just need a slight amount of stability control. Technically a neutral/cushioned shoe, the Nimbus covers a good range of pronation so that it could be worn comfortably by most people.
If one cannot afford the price (sales happen for Asics through the year, however) the Cumulus is the inexpensive cousin to the Nimbus---similar, but the Nimbus is supposed to be a better shoe, hence the price. One can also just try for older models, although the specifics often change from year to year---this will include things such as the toebox dimensions, flexibility, or cushion/stability of the shoe. It is highly advisable to do a little homework on the different versions of the model you are interested in.

Most awesome shoe I have ever owned Mar 26, 2009

"Registered Nurse"
I am a nurse who works 12 hour shifts on concrete flooring and am on my feet the whole time either walking or standing to chart. These shoes were recommended to me by another nurse and I wore them to work right out of the box without breaking them in and my feet felt great when I got home. Prior to these shoes my feet hurt so bad when I got home from work and the next day that they felt bruised for a few days. Each step was excrutiating with any other shoes I tried. I would recommend these shoes to anyone who spends a lot of time on their feet.

heel rubs Oct 08, 2008
By R. Davies I have worn Asics Gel Nimbus 9's for the past 3 years. I've been running 20-25 miles a week. I bought these shoes 21 days ago. I have a terrible blister on my left heel, and noticed this morning that the inside of the shoe is already torn. The Gel Nimbus 9's would do that, but usually after about 6 months - which was when I would need to get new shoes anyway.
I'm really disappointed. I am going to try to return them today.

Feels Like Running On Clouds Sep 06, 2008

"SecretAgent00K9"
I run about 11-14 miles a day and these are by far the most comfortable shoes on the marked for someone with normal/mild pronation. My feet have fairly high arches and are wide at the toe but narrow at the heels, so it's always been difficult for me to find a pair of running shoes that won't give me blisters. The Nimbus 10's, however, are the first pair of running shoes I've used that fit properly - snug enough to prevent rubbing, but roomy enough to prevent cramping. They are durable, yet light weight; and the cushioned soles offer stable support in the areas that feet need it the most. Though they are pricy, if you're a serious runner or even someone who has a difficult time finding a comfortable pair of running shoes, I guarantee you these shoes are worth every penny!
