5These are my favorite shoes. Period.  Oct 24, 2010
By Chris A. Warton
I wear dress shoes every day and walk a lot at work. I did not initially thik these would be OK becasue of the full leather sole but they are so comfortable! I have other rubber sole dress shoes and there are more comfortable than those for sure. They also look nicer with suits.

The soles on these shoes are constructed with thin rubber that has little knobs over the outside, this is then covered with a very thin skimming of leather (with holes for the knobs to poke through - you can see them on the photo). The rubber isn't attached to the body of the shoe in any way what so ever, it's just held in place by the leather sole. The appear to have a Goodyear welt, however it's plastic and it is only glued to the sole, not stitched as it should be. The leather upper is made from rather thick tough leather.

So what does all this mean? well, first of all, if you intend to walk in these, you've got the wrong shoes. Any kind of walking will wear through the thin layer of leather, exposing the rubber underneath which isn't actually attached to anything. More walking will just wear off enough leather until the edges of the rubber sole are all exposed and then the insole will be the only thing holding the shoe together. The Goodyear welt is a nice feature, however it's plastic, so walking will crack it, and then you'll discover that it isn't sewn to the leather sole - just glued. Thus what's left of the leather will start to peel away from the upper at the edges. At this point, you might have noticed that your shoe is literally falling apart at the seams. This would be frustrating enough, except for the fact that the upper is so damn stiff that it'll completely mangle your feet. And if you persist with them, then by the time you are able to walk more than 20ft with out crying, your sole would have fallen off and everything will have been in vain.

If you like leather soles, these are NOT the shoes for you. They are 'technically' leather, but Bostonian have really pulled a fast one on the shoe buying public here. I thought the knobs were glued onto the leather and would just fall off over time, little did I know just how inferior Bostonian's shoes are. Learn from my mistake and run. Run far. But for God's sake don't run in these damn things.

(check photo for more a graphic demonstration of why you shouldn't buy these shoes)
