The 9.5 XW was too wide. Toe strap not adjustable. Beautiful quality leather for low price Dec 20, 2008
By cynthia_colorado I ordered 9.5 XW (Extra Wide) in the tan color, which is a warm light brown color, not the beige sort of tan.
I will be sending them back, because they were too big -- both too wide and too long. In most brands, I wear Wide or Extra Wide.
In the photo, it looked as if the strap over the toe area might be adjustable; it is not. The narrow strap that goes around the back of the heel is adjustable.
The current price (December 2008) from Amazon is a fantastic deal. Even though returns are not free, the price made it worth taking a chance.
Upon examination, they appear well made -- nice leather, neat stitching. The style is flattering; it makes my legs look longer, and makes my thick ankles appear less so. This style has visible stitching in a contrasting color, which gives a slightly casual look.
There is some cushioning -- not the softest of the many shoes and sandals I've owned or tried on, but not bad. The heel is wide and stable, making these practical for someone who wants pretty sandals that allow some walking. This is something I would wear to a party, but not for walking a mile. This style might be OK for guests at a outdoor summer wedding, but not if it's a formal wedding. For someone wearing satin or sequins, these would not be fancy enough.
There is a little arch support, but not enough to support my fallen arches, thus I would not want to walk far in these sandals.
About the footbed: about half of it appears to be suede, with smooth leather on the rest of the footbed. I like the suede-type footbeds, especially in sandals; it will make the footbed less slippery in hot, sweaty weather. The parts of the footbed that may be visible when worn (the front toe-tip edge and the back heel edge) are smooth leather and will look nice, peeking out from under your feet. Thus, the combination of materials is a nice solution that allows practicality with good looks.
The heel looks like it could be very dark wood (unless looking close), but it is synthetic -- more comfortable, not as hard as wood. There is a shallow pattern stamped into the bottom of the synthetic soles; I assume the purpose is to make them non-slick, but it is pretty.

The best sandals! Nov 30, 2008

This are the most confortable sandals I have, I can stand and walk all day long. I bought 2 pairs of each color to last me for years since they are very reasonably priced, they are true to size....they can be dressy and casual, and my toes don't show!

classy Aug 31, 2008
By E. Aiken These sandals are very comfortable. No break in time. Comfy right from the start. They fit true to size. I normally take a 6, ordered a 6 and they fit perfectly. The heal isn't too high and you can stand and walk in them comfortably all day. Highly recommended. I got the dark brown. Very nice neutral color.

Attractive and Comforable Sandals Nov 05, 2008
By J. Calby I ordered the black and they fit right out of the box.Whew! That doesn't happen enough anymore.
Plenty of cushioning on the insole, the heel is a soft walker,(no cruching or clacking), and the leather is good.
The coral is subtle. It can pass as a bright tan perhaps.
Outstanding Price makes them even more comfortable!
