4Great costume piece for the price  Sep 08, 2009
By Marjorie Burns
Wow, nobody in these reviews seems to be able to agree: do the boots run large or small? Are they narrow or not?

My take:

- I wear a size 6 1/2 in normal shoes, but almost always wear a 7 in boots. Same situation here... size 7.
- I have a wide-ish foot and they fit me fine.
- After wearing them around ALL DAY at Comic-Con, they did not chafe or hurt me in any way, which is more than I can say for most non-costume shoes. The manmade material, however, did make my feet and ankles get sweaty. Also, as I often find with synthetic shoelaces, they came untied of their own accord at a couple points during the day.
- They're such a cute costume basic, especially for someone like me who enjoys dressing up in Victorian/Edwardian stuff! So far they have been durable and comfy... I thought they might be a bit of a frivolous purchase, but I don't regret it at all!

4Authentic, comfortable, and sturdy  Apr 05, 2011
By Broadwaygal
I am very happy with my purchase. I bought these boots to wear for a Victorian-era play and I have very little to complain about. The shoes proved sturdy, comfortable, and they looked great!

One thing that bothered me was after I wore them for a while, I noticed that the tongues of the boots wouldn't remain in place. They would slide over and I found myself having to unzip the shoes and fix them repeatedly. It wasn't a huge problem because the boots were mostly hidden underneath my dress, but it could be a problem in other situations. I think it might've had to do with the way the boots fit me. The boots fit my feet correctly, but the upper part of the boot was too large for my calves.

Other than that, I love my boots! My feet did start to ache after hours of wearing them, but that happens with any heels I wear. I am very grateful for the zipper so that I didn't have to lace myself into my boots every time, but the laces were still there so I could adjust as needed. If you are looking for authentic-looking, comfortable boots to complete a Victorian costume or even modern-day outfits, these are an excellent option! Well worth the money paid.

4So far, so good  Jan 18, 2011
By S Miller
Mine just arrived today. My perspective on the sizes: I normally wear a 10-10.5 womens, depending on the brand. If I can get them, I'll purchase a Wide, but its not a deal breaker. It just means I don't wear them all day long! Anyway, the 10M fit me quite comfortably, altho my muscular calves did bulge over the top a little, which was easily remedied by easing the laces. I'll add to this after I've worn them a few times, but I wanted to get my word in on sizing, in case someone else is having trouble deciding.

4Great costume pieces  Jan 15, 2011
By Emily Forsman
Bought for Nancy in a production of Oliver. The material is shiny (as shown), so for our purposes it required some distressing. The actress loved them and never complained about fit or any problems, despite all the dancing and time she spent on her feet in the show. Did a three week (about 20 show) run with no problems. Great boot for a good price. Not sure about street wear, but for costumes it's a winner.

4Good Fit  Jul 20, 2010
By Ms Cyn
-Great for people with large calves, as it's both lace-up and comes to about a little below mid-calf on me. (I'm plus-size & 5'5.)
-I don't really care for the synthetic material used, as it looks just like that, but for the price it's fine.
-The heel is manageable for someone not used to walking in heels 24/7.
-I did get one blister on the back of my ankle, but I wasn't wearing socks (just stockings) the first time I wore these. (I've gotten much worse blisters from other shoes I've owned.)
