4Great for the price range, however...  Feb 26, 2010
By Paully
Great product overall. Very nice movement/ergonomics and sturdier than other brands in the same price range. Decent exercise program options but takes a bit of getting practice to get comfortable with the interface. It's worth the money as my wife and I use the trainer almost daily. The resistance band (magnetic) is really good; appropriate for beginners through the ultra athlete.

Now onto the "However"...the belt tension was not set correctly from the factory and it resulted in having to change the belt after 4 days of use. Customer service was VERY helpful and pleasant to deal with. Replacing the belt wasn't difficult just a nuisance to take the unit all apart. Finding the right tension with the replacement belt was tricky. Now the new belt is on all seems well. Hopefully that issue doesn't resurface. All that aside we are quite pleased with the product overall--small footprint, great stride length suitable for our height (I'm 5'10" and my wife is 5'7"), relatively quiet--although there's a small rattle that needs to be found, sturdy but not commercial (gym) quality sturdy.

4Nice elliptical  Oct 24, 2009
By K. Price
It's not a gym quality machine, however for the price, it's great! I'm sure if you got the
Kettler models that were five or six thousand dollars you would have more of a gym quality machine.
This machine is smooth and quiet. I have used it and a 250 lb. man has used it, both with the same
smooth quiet operation.

The cons would be that I was missing a couple of minor parts (as I was with a Kettler rower I got, so
it must be typical of this company). And a couple of pieces loosened after initially putting it together.
This may have been my fault, but I tightened it the same as I did initially and it seems to be fine now.

In any machine, I highly recommend this type of build. My brother has one of the ellipticals that has the
runners in the back and has had a horrific time with them "jumping" the tracks.

5Sturdy and smooth  Jul 21, 2011
By Thorbjørn
I have owned this cross-trainer for about 1½ years and I'm pretty pleased about it.

It stands firm even through vigorous use, and the 5 watt increments makes it possible to find a level for anyone's taste or day-shape.

Among many settings it's possible to create your own training program, where you decide time and power at the individual steps (which is fortunate, since the default programs run for 120 minutes/24 km ;-)

The extended motion makes for more realistic strides and I have found this to be more pleasant than what ordinary cross-trainers deliver.

To monitor heart rate, there are three possibilities: a wireless Polar, a wired ear-clip or using the conductive handles.
Go with the wireless Polar - the wired ear-clip comes loose easily, and the conductive handles start giving false readings fairly quickly, if you sweat profusely (like me).
You might also want to cover the mini-jack for the ear-clip, since I suspect sweat-beads might also find their way into it and give false readings.

When assembling it, wait a few weeks before putting on the plastic safety guards, because you will need to re-tighten some bolts. Especially the stem/mast might need tightening after some use, but you can get to this even with the safety guards screwed on (just slide the cover upwards). I haven't had to tighten the bolts on the stem/mast for over ½ a year, and if you aren't into abusing the handlebars, you may never have to tighten the stem/mast bolts at all.

If you start experiencing 'bumps' in the gliding motions, then check for accumulated dirt on the chrome bars, and scrape it off with your nails or something non-metallic.

A good quality buy for the home gym, but it's not suited for studios.

5Kettler EXT7  Jan 26, 2011
By Paulo Vicente
I spent about three months looking at reviews, researching pros/cons of various elliptical designs, and actually testing the name brands in the stores. For the price and quality, none compared to Kettler EXT7. It is an excellent cross trainer. The additional glide mechanism makes it easy and smooth on the knees. The user does not experience the extreme up and down motion that is associated with the basic elliptical machines. The control panel is easy to use and has plenty of options for most users. Not as sturdy as the professional model, but for its relatively small size, it has good stability. This machine is made in Germany, so you can imagine the quality. If you are in the military living in Germany you, can get it for less than $[...] after VAT discount at [...].

5Excellent  Feb 27, 2011
By Jon "jon011"
An excellent elliptical - nice stride - like jog - very sturdy - smooth, quiet, very small footprint with long stride - base doesn't move or shake - excellent electronics / monitoring - including chest strap/hand grips / ear lobe clip - use mainly chest strap - says u can download programs - didn't do yet - incredible customer service - they just send u new parts no questions asked - not that i needed them in the end - one thing to remember is to assemble with real socket tool to get bolts tight enough - if u use included wrenches - not enough torque - will loosen - top of the line kettler - not made in far east -
