Does the trick Jan 15, 2011
By gsteinem Got this for my wife for Christmas. She has high arches and was concerned about the fit of this shoe. It fits perfectly. Also tracks just right in terms of advertised size. She's a size 6 and its perfect.

Excellent running shoes Nov 22, 2010

I bought these shoes as a replacement for my 9+ year old New Balance shoes. My old ones are still plenty serviceable, they just don't look as nice as they once did. So this new pair is my "dress" running shoes.
I chose New Balance again because they offer various widths. I have a narrow foot and running shoes that are too wide make blisters on my feet. I also find New Balance shoes to be quite stable without having a clunky, wide sole.
This particular style is a little different than my last pair. In particular, the tongue is thinner and is stitched in place up to the fourth eyelet. I was concerned about it being hard to get the shoe on because of this, and it is definitely different. It's almost like putting on a sock, but because the tongue is made of a stretchy material, it's not too hard after you do it the first time. After the shoe is on, I really like the stitched down tongue. It keeps the shoe snug across my high instep and keeps my foot from moving forward when running. The width is perfect, too.
One of my favorite features on this shoe is the bubble laces. They are soft nylon laces that have bubbles knit in intermittently along the length of each lace. The bubbles provide grip when the laces are tied and voila! No more having to re-tie my shoes throughout the day. It seems like a small thing but it makes a huge difference.
This shoe looks similar to my old shoe, but it is much lighter weight. I also like the gray and black colors, with the lime green accents.
If you've worn New Balance before and liked the fit, you will probably like these as much as I do.
Great shoes Dec 30, 2011
By Soni Very comfy shoes. I was long overdue for a new pair of running shoes and went with these after trying them on at a New Balance store in Canada. Bought them at Amazon.com for exactly half what they were retailing at the store! They work well off trail and look great too. So far, only downside is that they're a tiny bit slippery. I recommend these shoes.
no traction--tight toes Sep 01, 2011
By Lynn The worst thing is that they have no traction. There is plenty of tread, but the sole material is too hard. I found myself slipping often and I actually slid right down a boulder while standing up in these shoes. The shoes just have no grip.
Also, they are stiff; running in these shoes felt like a wrestling match for control of my feet. My toes weren't comfy in them either, and as they wore out my big toes started to blister on the outside.
I never really liked these shoes. I'm very frugal so I wore them for the requisite 500 miles, but I was very happy to hit that mark! I traded them in for a wonderful pair of Montrails that take me where I want to go.
very tight top-to-bottom when using custom orthotics Aug 24, 2011
By Amy L. George I buy NB because I need narrow sizing. I also have custom orthotics for my running shoes. The orthotics lift the foot a little higher than the factory insert, so these are very uncomfortable. This shoe has the "debris free" sewn in tongue, so there is no loosening. I get tons of compliments on them, and do wear them from time to time, but they are not comfy like the NB where the tongue is not sewn in.
