Major disappointment Sep 27, 2011

Because buying an elliptical is a relatively big investment for me, I did a lot of research before deciding on this particular trainer. Plenty of reviews online suggested this was a decent elliptical for the money, so I decided on this over my other top choice, the Horizon Fitness EX-59 Elliptical Trainer, and I'm very disappointed that I did. I am 5'8" and the supposedly '18"' stride somehow is much shorter than the equal '18"' stride of the Horizon EX59 (a friend of mine has the EX59 so I've been able to try it out). When I'm on the ProForm iSeries 800 the movement is really jerky and unnatural because the stride length is much too short for someone my height, and this is the main reason I highly regret making this purchase. An additional problem was that one of the wheels keeping the legs on the track was missing the c-clip required to secure the wheel in place on the track. The machine was unusable until we found the right size c-clip at a hardware store. I gave this 2 stars simply because for a much shorter person (5'4" and under), this might be a useful elliptical trainer, but for me, it is simply a horrible match.
NO NO NO Just a complete nightmare Feb 23, 2012
By William Bought this elliptical around christmas time. The only review at the time talked about short, choppy strokes which I did not have the same issue with. While assembling, 75% of the bolts would not tighten, in fact I bent the allen wrenches trying to get bolts even 1/2 way in, I thought they were cross threading but they weren't, most of the threads were actually damaged and some of the preassemble sections the bolt holes didn't even line up. After finally getting assembled and using for 3 weeks the right side roller disintegrated mid workout. Being under warranty I immediately contacted customer service, I have gotten nowhere in a week. I've sent all info iconfitness has asked for and its like everyday is starting from scratch, they have none of the info I have sent and no record of me even being in contact with them. Deciding it would take months to get anywhere with the warranty I set out to buy the replacement part myself, which apparently will not happen since the model and entire parts list doesn't appear to exist according to proform. At this point I am stuck with a broken elliptical that may or may not be real, that I paid $500 for, that the manufacturer doesn't admit exists and the warranty company seems intent on jerking my chain. Basically, other than the 3 weeks this thing worked, this has been the worst purchase in my life and I may cancel my membership with amazon and never buy another product from them. I have purchased many items with amazon in the past year. I have been very happy with amazon up to this point, but if 1 out of every 15 items I buy turns into a complete nightmare, I guess I will have to take my business local. *Update, iconfitness has confirmed to me that they have been swamped with warranty requests for this elliptical being sold by amazon...DO NOT BUY THIS ELLIPTICAL FROM AMAZON! It is defective and will break.
