Tibmerland Whiteledge Apr 08, 2008

Excellent shoes. Withstood the snow in Tahoe this past March. Very stiff at first. Took about 2 days for me to break into these shoes before they were comfortable enough for me to wear everyday. I typically wear a size 7 jogging/walking shoes and the size 7 Timberland Whiteledge that I purchased were a perfect fit...even with thick socks. This is my second pair of Timberland Waterproof boots.

Waterproof? NOT! Feb 26, 2009

Although I really like these boots they are far from waterproof. Even with repeated leather treatment using Timberland's own leather protector they still do not keep my socks from getting wet here and there.
Other than the waterproof problem, I like them. They are light and comfortable and have great traction. They are a good all around hiking boot. However, I would recommend anyone looking for a real waterproof boot to go elsewhere. I would call them water resistant, for short ventures in the rain anyhow.

good, serviceable hiking boots. Inexpensive. Jan 10, 2009

For a relative inexpensive pair of hiking boots, it would be difficult to do much better than this one. They are quite sturdy, fit very well, look good and do the job you paid them to do. There is a bit of a break-in period for these and like another reviewer, I found them a bit stiff at first but after that I certainly have no complaints. I do not know if I would want to use these in the fridge north, but for normal weather, they are just fine. They look good in jeans or hiking shorts.

Not the least bit waterproof. Sep 18, 2011
By Wendy Tobler I've had three pairs of these and, even when brand new, not one has been waterproof enough to walk on a dewy lawn, much less withstand an actual puddle. I continue to buy them at half price specials via another website only because they're so very comfortable and because Propet's truly waterproof leather boot was discontinued (see my last paragraph).
I use them on my daily three mile walk around the perimeter of our hayfield which I keep mowed like a lawn. My trek is in the morning when the short grass is still quite dewy. Within 20 minutes, my socks are damp at the toes and balls of the foot, and by the time I'm done, they're downright wet. If I remember to spray each boot with silicone every other day, I can minimize the seepage, but eventually, once the leather has creased and cracked at the ball of the foot, only packing it with mink oil will help.
I figured my first pair might've been a fluke, but that was a couple years ago and nothing has improved. Also, unbelievably, Timberland's "waterproof" Chocorua, which boasts a Gore-Tex membrane, is no more waterproof than the White Ledge.
For a truly waterproof leather boot, I loved Propet's Cliff Walker, but it was discontinued in the ladies' version. However, when I called the company a few months ago, I was told they were reintroducing it this Fall due to customer demand. I can't wait to stock up on the Cliff Walker and relegate my somewhat more comfortable White Ledge to dry weather only.

Love These Boots Sep 15, 2011

These boots were comfortable from the moment I put them on. I have a wide foot and they were true to size even with thick socks.
