I would purchase these boots again Dec 25, 2009
By Ryan M. Adams These boots are comfortable, rugged and I would defiantly recommend them. I have been using them for about a year and a half and the only complaint that I have is that they are no longer completely waterproof. They will still keep my feet dry while hiking through snow or wet fields, but if I completely submerge them water will enter the boot. When I first purchased them this was not the case but regardless I would buy this boot again.
2 years later: I'm still using the same pair of boots I originally purchased and I have grown to love them even more. I have put these things through hell and haven't done any maintenance or upkeep on them. They are extremely robust and I'm amazed at how well the gortex has held up. On top of all this, I really like they way they look and feel on my feet. I will never buy another pair of hiking boots so long as Vasque continues to make this product. I really can't recommend them highly enough.
I've been wearing a 10.5 which is the same size as my nike running shoe.
3.5 years later: I have finally replaced the original shoelaces after they self destructed. It was over the course of weeks, so I wouldn't be overly worried about needing to replace a lace on the trail (some rhyming!). I've finally started to clean and polish the boots because the leather was beginning to dry and crack. At this point, these boots are so well worn in that I want to keep them forever. After cleaning them, they still look great; and I have a feeling they will be lasting for quite some time more. I'll be back to update next year! - Also, looking back I commented on the integrity of the gortex - I can't say that I've had any problems in the last few years. I've submerged these boots, put them through mud and snow and I can even remember taking them into a wetland once! The wetland excursion didn't leave my feet dry but so long as you keep the water level below the top of the boot, I would say these things are top notch as far as waterproofing is concerned.

Best Boot I have ever owned Dec 08, 2009
By Don E. Beeler

I have owned 6 pair of VASQUE Clarion GTX boots.
I go through a pair a year because I wear them every day, I wear out the bottom of the boot and have to get new ones. The one exception to that is I always have two pair, since they are nubuck leather they get a bit trashing looking after I use them for logging and my wife won't let me wear them in public so I have one work pair and one everyday pair. I do logging and split about 100 cords a year and I hike a great deal and last year I got into snowshoeing. This week I have done over 10 miles of snowshoeing.
I first bought this boot in Maine when I went to hike Cadillac Mountain in Acadia national park. The salesman at Cadillac mountain sports really knew his stuff. He asked are you going to wear them today and I explained I was going to start a 3 day hike that day.
IMPPORTANT NOTE: I added an insole on top of the existing foot bed
The salesman told me to buy the Vasque GTX and to upsize it by ½ a shoe size, then add an insole (made by a company Superfeet only use the blue insole not the green ones) Superfeet® Active Insoleson top of the existing foot bed. Do not remove the existing foot bed; just put the new one on top of it. I wear a 9.5 shoe so I got a size 10 boot. I used a Superfeet blue size E insole. SPECIAL NOTE: this works for me and my setup, but some people have had problems with the insole cutting into the goretex, this has never happened to me an I don't trim the foot I just put it in. If this is an issue or concern Superfeet has retailers that can make a custom insoles that will solve the problem, but I would just try the off the shelf product first.
This is the most comfortable setup I have ever had. You can do anything you want on the first day you get the shoe.
Two negatives,
1. The nubuck leather gets dirty easy (I should try the leather ones but this works for me) 2. the shoe lace eyelets cut the shoelaces so get extra shoelaces. I need new shoelaces every 6 months.

Sturdy construction, not stupid-looking, second pair I've owned Nov 27, 2009

These are great Goretex day-hikers. And I wear them in the city in light snow and slush. They are exceptionally solidly constructed, and provide a lot of support and traction on the trail. I always buy Goretex boots, and always Vasque.
One of the aspects of this boot I most enjoy is that they don't have any fluorescent colors to make it look like I'm wearing a neon sign. I am an adult, and enjoy my footwear without lurid colors and oversized logos.

I live in these boots Sep 21, 2010
By free2fly This is the second pair that I have purchased. I wear them everyday. I first purchased them when I was having foot pain and found an old pair of Vasque boots in the back of my closet. My foot problems disappeared and so I purchased my first pair of Clarions. I am a walker/hiker, these get heavy wear. They hold up beautifully. I wear them for all 4 seasons. In winter they are warm and dry when coupled with fleece socks. Solid rubber soles. Gortex keeps your feet dry. Comfortable. Since I have been wearing these when walking no more foot pain. I really do love these boots.
