Comfortable and durable Sep 11, 2011
By Drastic There are some times when you need a high-top hiking shoe built out of solid leather ... when you're going to the Himalayas, I suppose ... or hiking in winter through snow and ice, when the risk of an ankle twist is so much higher. But for all other times, this has been my companion (and indeed I'm using my second pair now). They are quite durable, give stable side-to-side support so there's no wobbling, and they are just so comfortable!
I also find that I run across wet or muddy spots often enough, that it is worth the extra cost to have the Gore-tex lining. I have stepped into streams with them, and taken my foot out completely dry. That assumes of course the water doesn't come up above your ankle, for then you'll get swamped. Also I have not walked for an extended period in water, because the only time I did so, I came out with dampness. For whatever reason, Gore-tex does not work as effectively when it's inside a shoe vs. lining a rain jacket ... and this isn't unique to Vasque, because I have high-top boots with Gore-tex inside and they also soak through after a half-hour of standing in water.
Sizing of this shoe was accurate for me.

Best shoes I've ever owned Jul 03, 2011
By Aaron Hwang I've had these for about 2 months now. I've used them for:
1. Hiking through trails 2. Trail Running 3. Walking San Francisco 4. To the gym 5. Running on the beach 6. Crossed really shallow creeks 7. Walked rocky shores
And they still look barely worn. They're super comfortable, seem well ventilated and can take a beating without breaking a sweat. Also they grip like crazy, definitely inspires confidence in whatever I'm doing.
They're a little heavy which might be a turn-off for some but doesn't bother me. We'll see how they wear with age but I can already tell my next pair of activity shoes will be these.

It is the real hiking shoes with nice style Apr 14, 2011

I have tried several hiking shoes/boots from Nevados and Hi-Tec, but they disappointed me. I'm glad that I've found this shoes because I consider this one the real hiking friendly: comfortable, nice style, water resist, and fit firmly.
Amazingly comfortable, great quality! Feb 02, 2012
By Eric Gonzalez Mora I just got these and I can say they are incredibly comfortable, even from the first use. A few observations in case they're not what you're looking for:
- A bit weighty for the size. They weight almost the same as hiking boots. There are a couple of pairs at home to which I compared them to: Hi-Tec and Timberland. I suspect the weight is due to the thick sole (more on that later). - They run a bit small. I ordered 13 to be on the safe side since I'm 12.5, but they fit just right. Not a problem, but I'd suggest you to order half a size bigger. - These are tall shoes, not because they're tall like boots, but because your feet sit higher up. I feel like I'm riding on 4x4s. The reason is that the Vibram sole is very thick as well as the threads. Good thing for durability I guess.
Still haven't tested waterproofing or long-term comfort. I bought them for a lenghty, exhausting mountain trip, so I will report back how they did.
Excelllent shoe Dec 12, 2011
By Richard Spafford This shoe is good for trail hiking--all terrains really--and is particularly good for city walking when the sidewalks and streets are just a little snowy/slushy. Great tread, but pick up your feet or you'll scuff. They are light in weight for their style, but tough. I've never owned a pair of Vasque shoes or boots that I didn't love. These included.
