Don't start with this one. Jan 07, 2008
By Beanhauer A few weeks ago, I got the five workout TurboJam set that includes "Learn & Burn", a 20 minute workout, and Cardio Party I. I'm loving Turbo Jam, and highly recommend it. I ordered Cardio Party 3 because I was doing Cardio Party I everyday and recognized that I'd want to rotate some other videos in to avoid boredom.
While I enjoy Cardio Party 3, I think if you start with it you won't enjoy Turbo Jam. Insofar as Turbo Jam has weaknesses, they are more noticeable here, and the strengths are harder to see. Chalene Johnson doesn't use the music as well here, and sometimes it seemed like she was fighting the beat. She does more high impact, and she expects you pick up a lot more without cuing. She's also a bit more annoying, with more chatter and an overly cute little skirt. That's all fine if you're adding this DVD to a Turbo Jam collection, but not a good way to start.
The five workout set that comes with Cardio Party has a slow section that teaches the moves and two very manageable workouts for getting started. Then Cardio Party 1 is a lot of fun, works well with the music, and is a better way to get going.
An update to this review: after quite a bit more TurboJam, I came back to Cardio Party 3. While my original review stands, once you are good at TurboJam and trying to maintain some variety, this could become a favorite. It is higher energy than the others, and harder to learn. As I've gotten better at TurboJam, and my workout requirements more demanding, the challenge of Cardio Party 3 makes it a favorite. I still struggle with how the class is moving to the music, but as I learn the routine I'm able to look away and concentrate on the beat myself. I'd buy this one last...by then you'll be ready for it.

advanced cardio workout Mar 10, 2007

I'll begin this review with the following warning: DO NOT ATTEMPT TURBO JAM UNLESS YOU KNOW THE ELITE 11 MOVES
You'll get frustrated and quit. The workout is really fast paced and the choreography is layered rapidly.
Expect 50 minutes of intense and fun cardio fit for the advanced. This is non-stop people!

Fit. Fun. Guaranteed. Sep 01, 2007

This cardio workout is actually so much more. Chalene Johnson is one of the few fitness instructors who understands music and what moves are fun, rhythmic, make you love your cool self, and challenge your muscles hard at the same time. Get this with the Turbo Jam Five Rockin' Workouts DVD so you know how to do the moves, and to get ready cardiovascularly. This is a KILLER workout, yet is low/no impact, so if you've got creaky knees, hate jumping, or live above the first floor, it's ideal. I'm in good shape (thanks to the Turbo Jam series), but anytime I gain a few pounds, I do this DVD 3 times a week for 2 weeks and the weight vanishes. That's how good it is. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?? Another plus: Chalene puts fun skits at the end of her videos, so you find yourself giggling with her and "the class" as you're wiping away the sweat. She is all about fun, but she is also an extremely solid instructor. I think you'll love this.

This is the best out of all three!!! Mar 02, 2007
By R. Lindhorst Just get it and try it. I've been doing Turbo Jam for two months now. I got this one in the mail today and could barely get through the whole routine. Great challenging workout.

Just buy the first and second TJ's--don't bother with this one Nov 23, 2009
By MBP I bought Turbo Jam in 2007, and updated my collection with the latest Cardio Parties and toning workouts in late 2008. The Turbo Jam collection has many positive aspects, but I couldn't get behind this workout. Chalene's cuing is atrocious and there isn't as much variety in the moves as in the other workouts. It honestly feels like she made the workout up on the fly and recycled routines from the first two Cardio Parties. Stick to the first two--the choreography and cuing are far better.
